Waitemata Frond

2004

Women's Refuge Exhibition,
Fort Takapuna, Devonport.

The stainless steel frond references vessel and palm leaf forms.
The laser-cut work has a series of lattice elements welded along the central spine, implying the steel of the sculpture had been stitched together like the wood segment 'stitching' in my earlier vessels.

Waitemata Frond is an edition of two, made in support of the Women’s Refuge Exhibition, NZ Sculpture On Shore, 2004.

The works are now installed in private collections on opposite coasts, at Matarangi and Piha.

Dimensions: Length 2800mm x Width 800mm x Height 600mm.
