Leaf, (2006)
The skeletal vessel form was created to cast delicate reflections on the water. It is based on the leaf of the New Zealand native Lacebark, Houhere, a tree prized by Maori for the healing properties of its leaves, flowers and bark. King’s work emphasizes the need to heal the relationship between humankind and the natural environment.
Dimensions: Leaf is 2200mm long x 450 mm wide x 300 mm deep.
Fern, Leaf and Limpet were first exhibited at London’s Chelsea Flower Show as part of the 2006 Tourism New Zealand Garden.
Materials: marine grade, 3mm, 316 stainless steel, hand finished and electropolished.
The works are a limited edition of four.
